Senior Quantity Surveyor – Birmingham – Tier 1 Contractor – Permanent – Civil

Your new role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of key commercial responsibilities across a designated section of this major project. Operating with autonomy, you will:


  • Lead commercial tasks and processes, exercising sound judgement within your area of responsibility.

  • Work closely with the Project Manager or Commercial Manager on all commercial and contractual elements.

  • Protect the organisation’s commercial position through strong contractual, commercial, insurance and legal expertise.

  • Build and maintain effective client relationships to support smooth commercial progression.

  • Provide leadership, development and support to junior commercial team members.

  • Apply strong commercial and technical knowledge to identify solutions that support delivery goals.

  • Prepare and manage subcontract tender processes, evaluate returns, make recommendations and ensure accurate and timely placement of subcontracts.

What you'll need to succeed

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience working with NEC contracts.

  • Background in large‑scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects.

  • Professional membership such as RICS, ICES or CIOB (advantageous).

  • Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

  • A proactive mindset with the ability to lead, mentor and drive commercial excellence.

  • A valid right to work in the UK.
