Interim 6-month contract for a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Greater Manchester

Your new company

Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to take the lead on high-impact capital projects within the public sector? We’re working with a forward-thinking local authority in Greater Manchester that’s seeking an interim professional to join their Capital Projects team and drive delivery across a diverse portfolio.

Your new role

In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of capital projects—from initial planning and site evaluation through to procurement, delivery, and post-project review. You’ll manage budgets, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

Your ability to monitor performance, manage risk, and maintain robust documentation will be key to success.

You’ll also play a strategic role in stakeholder engagement, working closely with elected members, service users, and external partners to align project outcomes with broader organisational goals. Leadership is central to this position—you’ll line manage a team of Quantity Surveyors and support staff, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring best practice in cost management and contract administration.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Proven experience in managing complex capital projects within the public sector
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Expertise in procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a keen eye for detail
If you’re ready to make a tangible impact in a role that combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, we’d love to hear from you.

What you'll get in return

This is an excellent 6-month contract with a potential of extension. An opportunity for a commercially astute and politically aware QS professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You’ll also have the chance to deputise for senior leadership, contributing to the wider strategic direction of the capital programme.
