HAYS are delighted to be working with a local authority in Birmingham to recruit for a Project Manager on an interim basis. This role is crucial in managing the change process, ensuring that identified changes are effectively planned and delivered. My client is looking for someone who can be methodical, with the ability to create structure, manage progress and give the overall team strategic direction. The main focus of this role is the completion of deliverables to the defined quality and working collaboratively with Workstream leads, SME’s and the project/programme team.

The key responsibilities of this role are:
- Project Management: Overseeing the end-to-end management of projects, creating structure, managing progress, and breaking down work into manageable tasks.
- Team Management: Lead small teams, fostering collaboration with Workstream Leads, SMEs, and the project/programme team.
- Progress Reporting: Provide weekly progress reports and engage effectively with senior leaders.
- Risk and Issue Management: Manage risks, issues, and changes using appropriate processes and tools.
- Solution Development: Challenge the status quo and work collaboratively to define evidence-based solutions.
- Facilitation: Communicate effectively with the business to identify needs, evaluate alternative solutions, and influence outcomes.
- Complexity Management: Navigate complexity and ambiguity, balancing efficiency and effectiveness across multiple workstreams.
- Local Government Experience: Utilise experience in local government, preferably within finance, to drive transformation.
- Resilience: Handle challenging characters and resistance to change with resilience and adaptability.
In order to be successful in this role, you will have:
- Extensive project management experience, with fluency in project management methodologies and the ability to use standard MS tools.
- Proven success in delivering and managing multiple workstreams/projects simultaneously, with a methodical approach and attention to detail.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills, ability to work at pace, and proficiency in managing complexity across workstreams.
- The ability to thrive in driving transformation across multiple disciplines and cross-capabilities, with a proven ability to make tangible changes.
