Your new company

We are currently working on behalf of a client of ours who are in search of a maintenance engineer for one of their sites in Gravesend, Kent.

Your new role

• Ensure the timely completion of all PPM activities as required, and provide feedback to the Senior Engineer to enhance the PPM system and its activities.
• Collaborate closely with the Engineer on the opposite shift to guarantee daily handover of ongoing activities, and share all necessary information and practices.
• Contribute knowledge and suggestions for the continuous improvement of plant, machinery, and maintenance activities. Work alongside the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to pinpoint persistent issues and devise appropriate solutions.
• As a member of the Engineering team, strive to enhance equipment performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness concerning replacement parts and consumables.
• Carry out equipment repairs in a safe and prompt manner, ensuring constant updates on progress are provided to production.
• Perform remedial engineering works to equipment or site as directed by the Engineering Manager.
• Communicate any safety risks or potential equipment or site failures to the Manager.
• Collaborate with the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to ensure contractors adhere to site Health and Safety rules and procedures and work safely on site.
• Ensure all activities comply with the Site Health and Safety instructions, the SSG Health and Safety manual, and relevant engineering standards.
• Report any incidents, accidents, and near misses in line with Health and Safety Policies.
• Adhere to safe systems of work and best practice procedures.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
• Uphold the Company’s discipline, rules, and standards.
• Ensure the company assets are maintained to achieve maximum efficiency.
• Foster excellent communication between production staff and co-workers.

What you'll need to succeed

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). -
• Electrical Installation Maintenance
• Mechanical Fabrication/Maintenance.
• Electronic fault-finding to component level.
• The ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of management and staff and work as part of a team.
• Must possess a recognised qualification relevant to the role (e.g. mechanical or electrical C&G).
• Skilled in both Electrical and Mechanical trades: Apprenticeship with indentures preferred.
• Preferred knowledge of other engineering disciplines, including pneumatics, hydraulics, steam systems.
