Intermediate or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer | Permanent Opportunity

Job title: Mechanical Design Engineer (Intermediate to Senior considered)
Location: Greater Southampton (Full-time office-based with ad hoc WFH flexibility)
Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 Intermediate, up to £60,000 for Senior

The client, a nationally respected building services consultancy, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team in the Greater Southampton area. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects with a strong focus on decarbonisation and sustainability.

About the Role:
The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects across a variety of sectors. Current and upcoming projects include:
  • Decarbonisation schemes for hospitals and public sector estates
  • New-build educational facilities
  • Healthcare infrastructure upgrades
This role is ideally suited to an Intermediate to Senior level Mechanical Engineer with a passion for sustainable design and a desire to work on technically challenging and meaningful projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design of mechanical systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, and ventilation
  • Production of detailed design drawings and specifications
  • Collaboration with electrical engineers and other disciplines
  • Site visits, surveys, and client meetings
  • Supporting junior engineers and contributing to technical development
Requirements:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in mechanical design within a consultancy environment
  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations and CIBSE guidelines
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and IES or similar
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
