Your new role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering mechanical building services designs across a variety of public-sector projects.Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the development of technically robust, energy-efficient and maintainable building services solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Working within a multidisciplinary team to develop mechanical building services designs aligned with client briefs, budgets and project programmes
• Leading the mechanical aspects of projects and ensuring compliance with building regulations and industry standards
• Producing concept and detailed mechanical designs with a focus on energy efficiency, lifecycle performance and ease of maintenance
• Undertaking site surveys, feasibility assessments and technical reviews
• Providing professional advice on HVAC, public health systems, heating, cooling and ventilation strategies
• Supporting and mentoring colleagues to maintain high technical and design standards
• Assisting with project financial reporting and forecasting
• Contributing to the improvement of processes, design quality and project outcomes
What you'll need to succeed
• Experience in mechanical building services engineering (HVAC, public health or low-carbon systems)• Strong collaboration skills for working with M&E, architectural and structural teams
• Proven experience delivering mechanical design within building services projects
• Ability to manage complex projects including budgets and project delivery responsibilities
• HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, or willingness to work towards it
• Strong customer focus and a drive to improve building performance and user outcomes
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise in a busy project environment
• Up-to-date knowledge of building regulations, legislation and sustainability standards
• Understanding of RIBA stages, mechanical design principles and building services technologies
