What you’ll do
The (Senior) Manager, R&D Tax Credits will support our important R&D tax credit processes within AstraZeneca. This is a newly formed focussed role recognising the scale and importance of R&D credits and is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a team focussing upon R&D tax credits within AstraZeneca. In this role you will work closely with our R&D organisation, group financial reporting and financial planning teams as well as the wider tax team to determine the appropriate R&D tax credit claims. You will be an enthusiastic and technically capable individual with a strong commercial mindset and you are passionate about learning AstraZeneca’s business.
We are looking for a candidate with significant R&D tax credit experience, both UK and overseas including practical experience of defining new processes and ways of working, but as important is a problem solver, communicator and integrator.
Responsibilities:
The (Senior) Manager, R&D Tax Credits plays a critical role in delivering our R&D Tax Credit processes, ensuring that we comply with the requirements in the tax regimes in which we operate, claim the credits we are entitled to and manage risk. The role holder will support the Associate Director, R&D Tax Credits with these processes, including:
- Support with the preparation of the UK and Irish R&D Tax Credit processes
- Contribute to the definition and improvement of processes to collect information and calculate benefits
- Work with advisors to ensure that calculations and supporting documentation is fit for purpose.
- Support review of global R&D tax credit claims
- Support Associate Director, R&D Tax Credits, with tax authority correspondence in relation to enquiries and help prepare materials to explain approaches adopted to tax authorities on a timely basis
- Manage deliverables to the auditors including compliance with the appropriate control environment
- Support R&D tax business partner with modelling benefits and cash impacts of R&D organisation changes
- Support wider tax operations team on key processes and projects
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential for the role:
- Extensive years of experience in tax accounting for a large corporation or practice.
- Accounting or tax qualification
- Expert knowledge of R&D tax credit regimes and demonstrated experience of applying these principles in practice
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once and to meet targeted due dates.
- Demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal skills in order to brief management on pertinent issues including simply explain complex principles
Desirable for the role:
- Willingness and aptitude for learning new tools and techniques and transferring training to everyday activities.
- Knowledge of SAP and Hyperion a plus.
