Outside IR35
Join a local authority in Hampshire designing local highway and infrastructure projects. You’ll take schemes from concept through to detailed design, working with developers, consultants, planners and solicitors to deliver schemes, and check Highway Agreement submissions.
What you’ll do
What you’ll do
- Develop and refine highway design solutions from early concept to detailed design.
- Prepare drawings, contract documents, and provide technical support through construction.
- Plan and manage small projects—tracking progress, resources and timelines.
- Produce and review cost estimates to keep schemes on budget.
- Ensure designs meet Health & Safety and sustainability standards.
- Review and negotiate Section 38 & 278 submissions with developers and consultants.
- Check technical designs for compliance and suitability for adoption as public highways.
What you’ll bring
- RQF Level 4–6 in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience in highway, infrastructure or civil engineering design and construction.
- Strong knowledge of relevant design standards and procedures.
- Competent user of CAD software (Civil 3D, MX, AutoCAD etc.).
- Confident decision-maker in design, construction challenges and risk assessment.
Working with us
- Hybrid working — home and office, with occasional site visits.
- Travel as required for project needs.
