Senior Financial Accountant for a interim assignment for 3 months to support with year-end and audit
Your new company
You will be working for a large public sector body based in Birmingham, who are embarking on year-end and need some additional support for the team
Your new role
You will be working in a team of 6 and report to the Head of Financial Accounting.
Duties will include : -
You support the finance and audit functions by preparing and reviewing working papers, uploading supporting files, completing bank reconciliations, and ensuring all documentation is accurate for the 2025 audit. You help maintain strong financial controls by making sure reconciliations, schedules, and evidence are complete, accurate, and corrected promptly when needed.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a fully qualified accountant who is used to doing interim contract work, to be able to hit the ground running for the organisation.
Experience in any public sector experience is preferable.
You must be able to attend the office in Birmingham 2 days per week (this is not negotiable).

£400-450 p/day Umbrella rate
Hybrid working - 2 days in the office and 3 days WFH

Your role ensures the smooth operation of all financial processes including collections, banking, payments, expenses, fixed assets, and sales ledger.
You will support in the production of annual statutory financial statements and act as the main contact for internal and external auditors. You also ensure all statutory returns—such as HMRC submissions—are accurate and submitted on time. Finally, you support workflow and task management within the finance team, ensuring appropriate reviews are completed to required standards and deadlines.
