Finance Business Partner for £30m t/o business

Hays Senior Finance are working with a subsidiary of a large and complex business. The subsidiary is a national business with a head office in Warrington. The business continues to grow and has always been cash-generative. All transactional processing, management accounts and year-end work is carried out in the Group central finance function.


As Finance Business Partner you will provide commercial and financial advice whilst challenging and supporting the MD and managers. In return, you will receive an excellent salary, with a bonus, car allowance and additional benefits. You will utilise the central finance function and provide meaningful analysis and commentary on the monthly figures to help the business.


Key duties will include -
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget, monthly forecast, and detailed reporting and analysis of any variances, including plans for addressing any negative variances.
  • Provide proactive and meaningful financial analysis and advice on both operational issues and commercial decision-making. This includes pricing policy, business cases, capex requirements, and the tracking of costs and benefits.
  • Support the Managing Director in the orderly, profitable development of the business
  • Provide incisive and user-friendly management information to allow fact-based decision-making. Present management reports in a consistent, cohesive, clear format, interpreting variances and trends in financial data, and relate these to operational performance.
  • Prepare the Division’s monthly trading reviews and board reports and present meaningful results to senior leaders.
  • Co-ordinate the Division’s budget and forecasting processes, providing meaningful analysis and commentary to the Divisional Leadership Team and Group Finance department.
  • Work with the MD and leaders to develop pricing policies that deliver new business on acceptable commercial terms (including appropriate margin and risk evaluation) and on business processes to seek and improve operational efficiency and divisional profitability.
  • Work closely with the Billing and Credit Control Manager to ensure customers are billed correctly and cash is collected. Managing cash collection to terms.
  • Produce high quality, accurate regular and ad hoc reports showing the performance of Credit Management in the business.

We are keen to speak to qualified accountants who are commercially astute, proactive self-starters and based in or near Warrington. Previous experience as a Business Partner within a senior management team is crucial. You will demonstrate commercial awareness and understanding, without compromising financial conduct. Broad financial management experience in a business-to-business service organisation would be beneficial but not essential.
