Exciting Senior Finance Assistant opportunity in East Molesey area

Your new company

A rapidly growing, internationally operating organisation delivering complex, time‑critical services to a global client base.

Your new role

We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Senior Finance Assistant to join a growing finance team within a fast‑paced, operationally complex organisation. This role offers broad exposure across transactional finance, month‑end reporting, and operational cost control, working closely with the Financial Controller and senior stakeholders.
The position would suit someone who enjoys ownership, thrives in a dynamic environment, and is looking to progress in their finance career, gaining visibility across reporting, controls, and decision‑support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of the accounts payable function end to end, ensuring accurate, timely processing of supplier invoices and effective resolution of queries.
  • Prepare and post accruals, prepayments, and provisions, supporting accurate month‑end reporting and financial control.
  • Play a key role in the month‑end close process, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and preparation of management reporting.
  • Produce and analyse financial and operational reports to support cost control, performance monitoring, and commercial insight.
  • Partner closely with operational teams to validate costs, resolve discrepancies, and ensure alignment between operational activity and financial reporting.
  • Maintain robust financial records in line with internal controls, governance, and audit requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits, working directly with the Financial Controller to ensure audit readiness.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, helping enhance efficiency, reporting quality, and control frameworks.
  • Provide ad‑hoc analysis and support to the Financial Controller and wider leadership team.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role (Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant).
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable, month‑end processes, and core accounting principles.
  • Experience with accruals, prepayments, and provisions, ideally within a multi‑cost‑centre or operational environment.
  • Confident working with high volumes of financial and operational data.
  • Strong Excel capability (including lookups and pivot tables) and experience with finance or ERP systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working with non‑finance stakeholders and senior colleagues.
  • Proactive, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Sector experience is advantageous but not essential.
