Role Summary
This position offers the opportunity to lead mechanical design projects from concept through to production, contributing to the development of advanced systems used in infrastructure and public safety. The successful candidate will play a key role in product development, design optimisation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of new and existing products using SolidWorks or similar CAD tools
- Produce detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and FMEA to ensure compliance with industry standards
- Collaborate with electronics, software, and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle
- Liaise with suppliers and customers to refine specifications and resolve technical issues
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation of mechanical systems
- Ensure designs meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Significant experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or safety-critical environment
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (preferably SolidWorks)
- Knowledge of materials selection, thermal management, and enclosure design
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management and design for manufacture
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
