Senior Buyer with Lingerie experience for Wholesale Scale-up

Your new company:

This European Wholesale Lingerie scale-up is part of one of the largest global fashion design and manufacturing companies in the world. The vision is to create a more fashion-led brand, at a good price level. Also, the ambition is to rapidly grow this business in the next 2-3 years.

Your new role:

As a Senior Buyer, you will work closely with the Planning Director. The Senior Buyer will be a lingerie product expert, with strong lingerie high street buying experience.

  • You will develop this brand, currently a wholesale brand, (the online site will be launched), embracing fashion and inclusivity at an affordable price.
  • You will consider customer buying patterns, demand, predict future trends and the competition.
  • You will create a “good, better, best” product and price architecture.
  • You will have extensive sourcing/ production experience and will work closely with the Sourcing / Logistic Managers to manage the overall critical path with your chosen suppliers to ensure product is delivered at the correct quality levels and on time.
  • You will have a robust view as to sourcing, price negotiation and will help set and work to revenue, profitability, and inventory targets.
  • You will work closely with the sales teams to set a product strategy that best fits different wholesale partners and varied geographical locations.
  • With the Designer, you will set the brand and design aesthetic to develop the recognisable brand.
  • A true lingerie expert, your experience will ensure that the swimwear and loungewear areas are developed.


Key responsibilities:

Working with the Planning Director to create in essence, a new brand, based on experience of consumer targets throughout the UK, Europe, and the US.

  • To build new season product plans for the brand based on lessons learnt and forward strategy.
  • Work closely with the Designer to create product that builds the aesthetic of the brand, creating a “good, better best” product portfolio to manage any basic technical queries where required (with a Freelance Garment Technologist) with a focus on detail and quality to ensure handwriting and high-quality standards are maintained.
  • Formulate phasing, stories and deliver to various wholesale clients successfully communicating the vision for specific ranges to their Buying teams and other departments, such as e-commerce and retail operations.
  • Together with the Sourcing Manager, you will formulate a supply-based strategy to meet product requirements, margin, quality and compliance.
  • Manage the critical path from range presentation and selection through to buying, making adaptations to react to market changes and specific needs.
  • Participating in organizing seasonal markets with all the wholesale partners in the showroom and to help the Wholesale Director to present all collections to Wholesale Partners.
  • To help manage the development of visual merchandising guidelines and product knowledge information to wholesale partners.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Proven ability to work with a small cross-functional team.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel is required.
  • Excellent team player as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills (written & verbal) & extremely organised, thorough, and able to prioritise.
  • Detail orientated & analytical.
  • Results oriented – strong sense of motivation.
  • Self-directed problem solver, proactive and resourceful.
