Procurement Consultant – Public Sector

Your new company
Our client is looking to build a panel of high-quality interim Procurement Consultants to support the delivery of complex public sector procurement programmes. As part of a shift towards a more balanced operating model, they are seeking experienced delivery-focused consultants who can complement their existing senior advisory team. They are seeking hands-on procurement professionals, who can take strategies that have already been developed and drive them through to successful delivery.

Your new role
This opportunity is suited to experienced public sector procurement professionals who combine strong PA23 knowledge, complex procurement delivery experience, and the ability to operate as trusted consultants. The emphasis is on practical delivery capability rather than strategy creation, supporting major public sector organisations through complex, high-value procurement programmes. Predominantly South West based assignments, typically 1 day per week on site, potentially increasing to 2 days depending on client requirements.

  • Operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Being commercially aware with strong stakeholder management.
  • You will be delivery-focused and comfortable managing day-to-day procurement activity.
  • You will have the ability to engage effectively across all levels of an organisation.
  • You will lead and deliver complex, high-value procurements.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Minimum 5 -10 years' procurement experience.
  • Strong background in public sector procurement.
  • Working knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023 (PA23) and associated regulations.
  • Recent experience leading or supporting complex procurement programmes, including Competitive Dialogue.
  • Experience managing high-value procurement categories, typically ranging from £50m to £100m+.
  • Equipment related procurement experience would be advantageous.
  • Consultants may support a range of major public sector and government organisations across Defence and Central Government to name a few.
  • Security Clearance is not essential, although existing SC clearance would be advantageous.

What you'll get in return
The successful candidates will form a preferred supplier bench. This work will sit outside IR35, meaning PSC LTD pay method is applicable for this assignment aside from PAYE or Umbrella. The work will appear to be for 6 months + and could lead to further opportunities. You must be able to commute to the South West, which is predominantly where most client's sites will sit, ensuring you are available for business needs.
