Your new role
You will play a pivotal part in establishing the organisation’s commercial function, ensuring robust processes and systems are in place from day one. This includes setting up commercial systems, embedding governance, and reporting to senior teams. You will lead all commercial, grant, and procurement activities, providing expert guidance and ensuring excellence throughout the commercial lifecycle. The role involves managing complex contracts and grants, driving value for money, and ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks. You will also manage and develop a team, fostering capability and resilience, and will be required to gain a nationally recognised commercial accreditation within your first year.

What you'll need to succeed
- Expert understanding of end-to-end commercial and grant lifecycle management, with a track record of strategic leadership in complex environments.
- Extensive experience in procurement management, including running multiple procurements and managing public sector procurement regimes.
- Proven ability in contract management for medium and high-value contracts, with strong commercial and legal acumen.
- Skilled in risk and assurance management, able to analyse options and implement innovative solutions.
- Commitment to commercial ethics and the ability to uphold standards in supply chains.
- Strong leadership and team development experience, with the ability to establish new functions and manage change.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, particularly with senior stakeholders and suppliers.
- Desirable: Experience with Public Contract Regulations 2015 and/or Procurement Act 2023.
