A respected public‑sector organisation based in the heart of Edinburgh is seeking an experienced Senior Administrator to support a busy operational function on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured, fast‑paced environment where accuracy, accountability and clear communication play a key part in delivering high‑quality public services.


Your new role

As Senior Administrator, you will play a central role in supporting operational delivery by:
  • Provide day‑to‑day administrative support, ensuring tasks are organised and completed on time.
  • Schedule and coordinate activities, including meetings, appointments and routine operational tasks.
  • Update and maintain internal systems and databases, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Act as a first point of contact, handling enquiries, sharing information and passing on updates to colleagues and external contacts.
  • Prepare and maintain records and documentation, ensuring files are organised, accessible and compliant with procedures.
  • Monitor tasks and follow up where required, highlighting any issues and supporting smooth service delivery.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in a senior administrative, coordination or planning role within a busy, multi‑stakeholder environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain structure under pressure.
  • Strong digital and data capability, including confidence in using systems, databases and tracking tools to maintain accurate, auditable records.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, able to provide concise guidance, produce well‑structured updates and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proactive, solution‑focused mindset, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently while exercising sound judgement.
