Warrington South. SEN within mainstream primary. Full-time temporary contract from September.

Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with an Ofsted-rated "Good" and "Outstanding" two-form entry primary school in the Warrington countryside as they are looking to appoint a reliable and experienced SEN teaching assistant to support a year 2 pupil on a 1:1 basis. This is a long-term, full-time, temporary position that will be starting in the new academic year.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant for Hays, you will be joining an extremely welcoming and supportive two-form entry primary school in the heart of the picturesque Warrington countryside. You will be supporting a year two pupil with an EHCP on a 1:1 basis, supporting them in all aspects of the day to ensure their academic and physical needs are met. They have a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal, so you will be required to integrate into their routine and implement new routines as to ensure their attainment needs are met. As they are non-verbal, you will ideally use PECs and Makaton and deliver basic speech and language interventions. As well as this, you will advocate for them throughout the school day and support them during break and lunch times. Other duties will include:

  • Positive behaviour support: utilising the sensory room, removing the pupil from an overstimulating/triggering environment, etc
  • Literacy and numeracy interventions
  • Liaising with SENCO on progress and development of ISP and EHCP
  • Liaison with parents/guardians on pupil overall progress, including attending parents' evening

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this exciting position, you must have recent and referenceable classroom experience and:

  • Be willing to undergo a DBS check/screening
  • Full "Right to Work" in the UK
  • Experience working with SEN (ASD and non-verbal is advantageous)
  • Experience using PECs and Makaton is preferable but not required
  • A Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification is advantageous but not essential

What you'll get in return

If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE acreditted recruitment consultant as well as a wide range of benefits, which include:
  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Full-time temporary contract
  • Long-term contract
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Company pension scheme
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
