Your new company

Hays Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a two-form entry primary school in Runcorn as they are looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic teaching assistant for a long-term full-time contract starting in September. This is a full-time long-term contract that may lead to a permanent opportunity for the right individual.


Your new role

This is an extremely exciting opportunity within a two-form entry primary school where you will actively support the academic, social and physical growth on pupils within a KS1 resource provision. The pupils you will be supporting all have individual EHCPs and a variety of complex and profound needs that include diagnosis such as ASD, learning disabiltiies, delay disorders and more. You will work alongside the class teacher to promote a stimulating, engaging and fun learning environment for your new pupils by taking a pupil-centred approach to their education and actively encouraging them to part-take in learning materials. You will implement an array of positive behaviour strategies that you students best respond to, these will typically consist of traffic light systems, DOJO/reward charts, sensory circuits, bucket therapy and more. Other duties will include:

  • Intervention and boosters in core subjects
  • Phonics assessments
  • Makaton & PECs
  • Personal/intimate care requirements

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this exciting long-term contract, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Be Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualified
  • Have experience supporting SEN (special educational needs)
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract (32.5 hours per week)
