Education Assistant, temporary position, part-time, based in Omagh, weekly pay
Your new company
It is a local tourist attraction. The organisation has appointed Hays to recruit an Education Assistant to join their team. This is a temporary position with an immediate start available. The position is for 1 day a week or 2 half days a week.
Your new role
As Education Assistant, you will deliver high-quality museum education experiences that are suitable for schools visiting the museum, and engaging online. You will support the Education Officer in the development of the education programme and informal learning programmes for children and families. You will support the evaluation of education programmes. In your role as Education Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring all logistical planning for learning / engagement events is undertaken, undertaking Safeguarding activities and ensuring full compliance with the Museums Safeguarding Policies and Procedures. As Education Assistant, you will work with colleagues across the site to ensure that the museums are safe and welcoming community spaces as well as stimulating and vibrant environments which engage people of all ages and abilities. You will also ensure that information is shared with team members clearly, concisely and in a timely manner, developing a close and productive working relationship with key internal stakeholders, including visitor services and curatorial colleagues, education groups and informal learning visitors.
What you'll need to succeed
As Education Assistant, essentially, you will have a primary degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum of 1 years’ experience in the delivery of curriculum-based learning or engagement programmes in a museum context.
OR A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the delivery of curriculum-based learning or engagement programmes in a museum context.
You will also have experience of working with groups with a variety of ages and abilities.
Experience of engagement with schools and / or community groups.
Experience of understanding and meeting the needs of new and diverse audiences.
Experience of logistical planning for education or engagement events.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
The ability to work independently as well as within a team.
A full driving licence and access to a car.
