Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant in Wolverhampton, Starting in November

This inclusive and nurturing primary school in Wolverhampton is committed to supporting every child’s individual learning journey. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe and engaging environment where pupils are encouraged to thrive both academically and emotionally.

They are seeking a dedicated and experienced Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child on a 1:1 basis. The child has emotional needs and global developmental delay, and is currently working at a lower Key Stage 1 level.
You will be responsible for following the child’s EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) and delivering tailored support in phonics and basic maths.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with SEN, focusing on emotional regulation and academic development.
  • Deliver phonics and basic maths activities in line with the child’s EHCP.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt strategies.
  • Create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with the child to encourage confidence and independence.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Phonics trained – essential for this role.
  • Proven experience supporting children with special educational needs, particularly emotional and developmental challenges.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to learning support.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
