Hays Construction is currently working in partnership with a leading national main contractor to appoint a Freelance Senior Planner to support their expanding operation from a Glasgow base.
Due to a strong and varied project pipeline, our client is seeking an experienced planner who can add immediate value while working closely with a well‑established project delivery and commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a planner who values flexibility, professional support and interesting workloads.
Your New Role
As Freelance Senior Planner, you will play a key role in supporting the planning function across a variety of building projects. You will work collaboratively with project teams to ensure robust, achievable programmes are produced and maintained.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing and managing detailed construction programmes from pre‑construction through delivery
- Carrying out critical path analysis and programme updates
- Supporting project teams with sequencing, logic planning and reporting
- Providing programme input for progress reviews, change and delays
- Working closely with site, design and commercial teams to mitigate risk
This role offers genuine flexibility, with hybrid working available and IR35 status determined on a role‑by‑role basis.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
To perform well in this role, you will ideally have:
- Proven experience in a Senior Planner or Project Planner role with a UK main contractor
- A strong background in BUILD projects
- Working knowledge of ASTA Powerproject
- The ability to work autonomously while integrating seamlessly into existing teams
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem‑solving
