School Science Technician role, Monday–Friday, 9.00am - 13.00pm, South Birmingham, To commence after Easter

We're looking for a dedicated Science Technician to join our welcoming school in South Birmingham for the summer term.

This is a great opportunity to work within a supportive science department, helping to deliver engaging and safe practical science experiences for students and bring science to life in everyday life.

Your new role

This is a temporary position to commence after Easter, and we're seeking someone who brings both technical expertise and a positive, proactive attitude. We are looking for an experienced science technician who has worked in an education setting. A DBS on the update service would be an advantage.

As a School Science Technician, you'll play a vital part in the day-to-day running of the science department by:

  • Preparing and maintaining resources and specialist equipment for lessons
  • Supporting staff and students during practical experiments
  • Ensuring all Health and Safety regulations are followed and documented
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly working environment
  • Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and keeping accurate records
  • Assisting with lesson planning, coursework administration, and classroom tasks
  • Supervising students during lessons, exams, and practical’s
  • Promoting good behaviour and a purposeful learning atmosphere
  • Conducting daily checks for damage or vandalism and arranging repairs as needed


What you'll need to succeed

  • Knowledge of a range of scientific subjects and equipment
  • Familiarity with safe storage and handling of hazardous substances
  • Initiative, enthusiasm, and a flexible approach to work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding
  • Suitability to work with children and young people
