Your new company

Join a vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school that places science and innovation at the heart of education. With state-of-the-art laboratories, a supportive faculty, and a dynamic student body, we are committed to inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and thinkers. The school fosters a collaborative environment where curiosity is celebrated and learning is hands-on.

Your new role

As our School Science Technician (Physics Specialism), you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education. Working primarily within the Physics department, you’ll be responsible for:
  • Preparing, maintaining, and setting up equipment and materials for practical lessons
  • Assisting teachers during experiments and demonstrations
  • Ensuring health and safety protocols are adhered to across all science labs
  • Organising and maintaining laboratory stock and resources
  • Supporting students with practical work and engaging science activities
  • Contributing to the smooth running of science clubs and enrichment events
This is a full-time, term-time position ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on role and thrives in a busy, learning-focused environment.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A science-related qualification (ideally with a Physics background)
  • Practical knowledge of lab equipment and procedures
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Awareness of health and safety in a lab environment
  • Previous experience in an educational or scientific setting (desirable but not essential)
This is a temporary role that has a strong chance of being permanent. An Enhanced DBS will be required for the role. If you don't have one, it can be processed. The school is looking for someone to start immediately.

What you'll get in return

As well as receiving a competitive rate of pay, this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in an outstanding school. When you register with Hays, you will be allocated a dedicated consultant who will be on hand to offer career advice and guide you through the registration process. Once you have completed this particular assignment, we will then be in a position to place you in further schools. By registering with Hays Education, you will also be eligible for our Refer a Friend Scheme, where you could receive £250 in vouchers T&Cs.
