School Caretaker | Horsham | £25,000 - £27,000 Per Annum | Permanent
This school is seeking a reliable, proactive, and skilled School Caretaker to join their dedicated team at a thriving secondary school in Horsham. This is a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school site, helping to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep.
- Ensure the school premises are clean, secure, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Open and close the site daily, including unlocking gates and buildings.
- Monitor contractors and assist with deliveries and site access.
- Support with furniture moves, room setups, and basic IT equipment handling.
- Respond to urgent maintenance issues calmly and efficiently.
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment across the school.
What this school is looking for
- Previous experience in a caretaking, site assistant, or facilities role (school experience desirable).
- Practical knowledge of basic plumbing, electrics, and general DIY
- Understanding of safeguarding and health and safety in a school setting.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Friendly and approachable, with a flexible attitude.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
