We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands‑on School Caretaker to join a busy secondary school in Halifax. This is a key role within the school community, ensuring the site is safe, secure, and well‑maintained for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and closing the school each day
- General site and grounds maintenance
- Carrying out basic repairs and DIY tasks
- Ensuring the school environment is safe, clean, and well presented
- Supporting with health and safety checks and routine maintenance
- Responding to maintenance issues as they arise throughout the day
About You
We’re looking for someone with experience in a similar caretaking or maintenance role. This does not need to be within a school — experience in environments such as student accommodation, hotels, facilities management, grounds maintenance, or building maintenance is equally valuable.
You will be:
- Practical and confident with basic repairs
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards
- Someone who takes pride in keeping a site running smoothly
Additional Information
- Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to obtain one)
- Full-time role on a rotating shift pattern between 6am and 6pm
