School Administrator Job Available at Secondary School in Bolton
Hays are working with a Secondary School in Bolton who are seeking a highly organised and adaptable Administrator to provide maternity cover, supporting a range of key administrative functions across the school.
This is a varied and fast-paced role, providing support across pastoral admin, departmental admin, reception duties and wider school operations, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a busy environment and working as part of a team.
Location: Bolton (BL2)
Hours: Full-time | Term-time only
Contract: Maternity Cover (Approx. 1 year)

Rate: Up to £16/hour (PAYE) dependent on experience
Start Date: ASAPWhat You’ll Be Doing
- Provide pastoral administrative support, including maintaining student records and supporting pastoral teams
- Assist with general departmental administration, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
- Cover reception duties, acting as the first point of contact for visitors, staff and students
- Manage incoming calls and emails, responding professionally and efficiently
- Support the planning and coordination of school events, meetings and activities
- Assist with general office duties including data entry, filing, and document preparation
- Provide support with financial administration where required (e.g. processing orders, invoices)
- Work collaboratively with staff across the school to ensure effective communication and organisation
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong previous experience working within an administrative role in a school or academy trust
- Has strong administrative and organisational skills
- Is confident managing multiple priorities in a busy environment
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Is confident in using school MIS (SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom or other similar)
- Is comfortable working on reception and handling enquiries
- Has good attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrates a flexible and proactive approach to work
