Duration: Until October Half Term, with the potential to extend


Hays Education are seeking a professional, organised, and proactive School Administrator to join a welcoming school in Durham from September 2026.
This is a full-time temporary position initially running until October half-term, with the possibility of an extension for the right candidate.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator looking to work within a busy educational environment, providing vital support to staff, pupils, parents, and visitors.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing general administrative support across the school
  • Managing reception duties and acting as the first point of contact for visitors and telephone enquiries
  • Maintaining accurate pupil records and updating school databases
  • Supporting attendance administration and reporting
  • Processing correspondence, emails, and incoming documentation
  • Assisting with admissions, enrolment, and school communications
  • Scheduling meetings and maintaining calendars where required
  • Supporting senior leadership and wider school teams with administrative tasks
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Previous administration experience within a school environment (highly desirable)
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages
  • Experience using school MIS systems such as SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom, or similar (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively
  • A professional and welcoming approach when dealing with pupils, parents, and staff
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
