Your new role

As a Mechanical Technical Design Manager (Building Services), you will be responsible for managing the design process from the tender stage through to construction-ready documentation. This pivotal role involves leading a team of designers, liaising with clients and consultants, and ensuring that all mechanical services designs meet required specifications and industry standards. Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the design of mechanical services projects from concept to construction.
  • Managing and prioritising the internal design team’s workload.
  • Providing technical guidance to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Conducting site surveys and preparing detailed technical reports.
  • Identifying and implementing value engineering opportunities.
  • Ensuring compliance with specifications, Employer’s Requirements (ERs), and regulations.
  • Collaborating with estimating and delivery teams to ensure project alignment.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A strong technical background in mechanical building services, plumbing, and air conditioning.
  • Proven experience in technical design management or senior design roles.
  • Experience in office and/or retail fit-out projects.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Willingness to travel to London for site visits and client meetings.
