Senior Housing Officer required by a large Housing Association for 3–6 months

Your new company

The services of Hays have been retained by our client, a Housing Association based in Derry/Londonderry, to recruit a Senior Housing Officer on a temporary contract basis for a period of 3–6 months.

Your new role

Reporting to the Housing Manager, you will help to develop and oversee the delivery of the Association’s Tenancy Support and Wrap Around Service, including early intervention from the Tenancy Support and Wrap Around Team.

You will be responsible for supervising a team of staff and ensuring that the objectives set for their area of responsibility are achieved.

You will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of your patch, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality and effective housing management service and the achievement of continuous improvement, in accordance with the values, standards and strategic objectives of the Association.

This will include:

Taking a lead role for Welfare Reform and Anti-Social Behaviour, ensuring that the Association is kept informed and responds positively to legislative and statutory guidance within the sector.
Managing and motivating the Tenancy Support Team, ensuring business processes are followed to deliver a high quality service which maximises rental income for Association tenants through the delivery of benefit and debt advice and promoting Tenancy Sustainment.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you must possess:

A third level qualification or be educated to A Level (or equivalent) with a professional Housing qualification and 2+ years’ experience in a Housing Officer role in a social housing management setting, or;

Be educated to A Level (or equivalent) with 5+ years’ experience in a Housing Officer role in a social housing management setting.

Additionally, you should have knowledge / experience of:

Current social housing policy and issues.
The use of Microsoft Office packages, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Line management of staff and development of team.
Meeting key performance targets and delivering excellent customer service.
Dealing with community safety issues e.g. anti-social behaviour.
Working directly with tenants and customers, including managing complaints.
Carrying out housing allocations in accordance with the Housing Selection Scheme.
