2 month temp

Your new company

We are seeking an experienced Temporary Housing Officer to join a forward thinking Housing Team for a two month assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solid grounding in housing management, rent arrears recovery, and ideally anti‑social behaviour casework, to step into a busy, resident focused service.

Working from the organisation’s head office in Carmarthen (with one day home working per week), you will help deliver a high quality, responsive, and person centred housing management service.

Your new role

Housing Management
You will manage a varied caseload including allocations, lettings, tenancy support, tenancy enforcement and estate management. You’ll ensure residents receive timely advice, guidance, and access to services that support successful, sustainable tenancies.

Income Management
You’ll monitor and manage rent accounts, take proactive steps to prevent and recover arrears, escalate cases appropriately, and liaise with external agencies such as DWP and Housing Benefit.

Tenancy & Estate Management
This includes tenancy reviews, home visits, estate inspections, mutual exchanges, successions, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and landlord responsibilities.

Anti‑Social Behaviour (desirable experience)
Where required, you’ll investigate ASB reports, maintain accurate case records, take a preventative problem solving approach, and work with partner agencies to support residents, victims, and communities.

Void Management
Supporting efficient turnaround of empty homes, including pre‑void inspections, viewings, and property allocation.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Background in general needs housing management
  • Experience of rent arrears prevention and recovery
  • Knowledge of ASB procedures (desirable but not essential)
  • Confident decision maker able to handle sensitive and complex situations.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work independently, including lone working using Peoplesafe
  • Commitment to delivering a positive resident experience

What you'll get in return

  • Hybrid working model – one day per week working from home (Tuesdays)
  • Free on‑site car parking
  • Provided IT equipment to ensure you can work effectively from day one
  • Professional support from an experienced Operations Manager and wider Housing Team
  • Opportunity to gain valuable experience in a well‑established, nonperforming Housing Team
  • In‑person interview process allowing you to meet key managers directly
  • Peoplesafe lone‑working device, ensuring you are supported when working independently
  • A chance to enhance your CV with broad hands‑on experience across income management, ASB, voids, tenancy management and estate work
  • A supportive organisation known for high service standards and resident‑centred practice
