Behaviour Mentor | Secondary School Job | London | HAYS Education

Your new company

Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in London to recruit a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning, improve behaviour, and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing pastoral and behavioural support to students, helping to create a positive and productive learning environment across the school.

Your new role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with behavioural, social, emotional, or pastoral needs.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a mentor and role model.
  • Support students in managing their behaviour and engagement both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral leaders, the SEN department and families to implement effective intervention strategies.
  • Monitor student progress, attendance and behaviour, providing regular feedback to relevant staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, confidence and self-esteem.
  • Assist with behaviour management across the school and support students during periods of emotional dysregulation.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will have:
  • Experience working with secondary-aged students.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.
Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Support Worker, Sports Coach, Residential Support Worker or similar role would be advantageous.
