Religious Studies Teacher

Your new company

Hays Education is recruiting passionate and knowledgeable Religious Education Teachers to work across a variety of secondary schools in Gloucester. These roles are available on a temporary basis, offering both day-to-day cover and longer-term assignments depending on your availability and preferences. As a Hays Cover Teacher, you’ll have the flexibility to work in different school environments while making a meaningful impact on students’ understanding of world religions, ethics, and philosophy.

Your new role

Deliver engaging and inclusive RE lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Plan and prepare lessons in line with the national curriculum (where required)

  • Mark and assess student work, providing constructive feedback to support progress

  • Promote respectful discussion and critical thinking around religious and ethical topics

  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment with strong behaviour management

  • Support students’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development

  • Liaise with teaching staff and pastoral teams to ensure student wellbeing

  • Adapt to different school settings and contribute positively to each school’s ethos


What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching Religious Education in a UK secondary school

  • Strong subject knowledge across world religions, ethics, and philosophy

  • Confidence managing classroom behaviour and engaging mixed-ability groups

  • Excellent communication and adaptability across different school environments

  • A flexible and proactive approach to teaching

  • Reliable transport (as some schools may not be easily accessible via public transport)

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
