Role Title: Employee Relations Advisor

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Employee Relations Advisor to join our clients People Services team. In this role, you will provide high‑quality advice, guidance and support to line managers and leaders on a full range of people‑related matters. You will play a key part in promoting a positive, fair and inclusive working environment through the effective application of policies, procedures and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations Support
- Provide expert advice to line managers on all areas of the employee lifecycle, including probation, absence management, disciplinary and grievance matters, flexible working and family‑friendly policies.
- Coach and support managers to handle routine employee relations cases confidently, consistently and in line with policy and legislation.
- Encourage manager self‑sufficiency by educating them on people policies, processes and available guidance.
People Processes & Case Management
- Support managers with a range of people processes such as fixed-term contracts, onboarding and offboarding, exit interviews, and compliance‑related activities.
- Proactively drive activity relating to absence management, return‑to‑work processes, occupational health referrals and reasonable adjustments to support employee wellbeing.
- Challenge decisions where needed to ensure fair, equitable and consistent application of people policies.
Manager Capability & Development
- Contribute to the ongoing development of people management capability across the organisation.
- Identify training needs and collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver appropriate learning interventions.
- Seek opportunities to develop self‑sufficiency and strengthen people management practices across the organisation.
Continuous Improvement & Policy Development
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within People Services and support managers to embed this mindset in their own teams.
- Identify opportunities to enhance policies, procedures and guidance, helping shape the organisation’s employee relations strategy.
- Support organisational change processes — such as restructures, redundancy and redeployment — by providing data, guidance and advice.
General Responsibilities
- Ensure the handling of data complies with GDPR and all relevant regulations.
- Follow all health, safety and wellbeing policies and help promote a safe and supportive working environment for all colleagues.
- Apply inclusive and equitable practices in all interactions, reflecting the organisation’s commitments to fairness and social justice.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role, as reasonably requested by the line manager.
