Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations Support
  • Provide expert advice to line managers on all areas of the employee lifecycle, including probation, absence management, disciplinary and grievance matters, flexible working and family‑friendly policies.
  • Coach and support managers to handle routine employee relations cases confidently, consistently and in line with policy and legislation.
  • Encourage manager self‑sufficiency by educating them on people policies, processes and available guidance.

People Processes & Case Management
  • Support managers with a range of people processes such as fixed-term contracts, onboarding and offboarding, exit interviews, and compliance‑related activities.
  • Proactively drive activity relating to absence management, return‑to‑work processes, occupational health referrals and reasonable adjustments to support employee wellbeing.
  • Challenge decisions where needed to ensure fair, equitable and consistent application of people policies.

Manager Capability & Development
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of people management capability across the organisation.
  • Identify training needs and collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver appropriate learning interventions.
  • Seek opportunities to develop self‑sufficiency and strengthen people management practices across the organisation.

Continuous Improvement & Policy Development

  • Identify opportunities to enhance policies, procedures and guidance, helping shape the organisation’s employee relations strategy.
  • Support organisational change processes — such as restructures, redundancy and redeployment — by providing data, guidance and advice.

General Responsibilities
  • Ensure the handling of data complies with GDPR and all relevant regulations.
  • Follow all health, safety and wellbeing policies and help promote a safe and supportive working environment for all colleagues.
  • Apply inclusive and equitable practices in all interactions, reflecting the organisation’s commitments to fairness and social justice.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role, as reasonably requested by the line manager.
