Recreation Attendant

Recreation Attendant (23.5 hours per week)
Location: Newtownards
Contract Type: Part-time

About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive, customer-centric Recreation Attendant to help ensure our facilities run smoothly, safely and with a great atmosphere for all visitors. If you enjoy working with people, supporting a variety of activities and keeping things organised, this role offers a rewarding mix of hands-on work and customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations by carrying out duties that ensure all activities and programmes run efficiently, safely and in the best interests of users.
  • Deliver excellent customer care at all times, acting as a friendly, professional point of contact for all visitors.
  • Supervise indoor and outdoor areas to maintain a safe, well-mannered environment across the facility.
  • Participate directly in activity delivery where appropriate, using any skills or qualifications that were relied upon during your appointment.
  • Handle administration and reception tasks, including customer enquiries, bookings and cash handling.
  • Act as a steward or attendant during events or courses, supporting the smooth running of all on-site activities.

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy working with people, can stay calm under pressure and are confident in taking responsibility for safety and customer experience. Strong communication skills, reliability and a positive attitude are essential.

Hours & Working Pattern

23.5 hours per week, with some flexibility required to support events, courses and peak facility times.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential

  • Experience in cash handling
  • Experience of keeping records
  • Experience of cleaning in public buildings
  • Good customer service
  • Must be prepared to work on a rota system which can include days, evenings, weekends (Sat & Sun) and public holidays.
  • Enhanced access to NI check for role

Desirable

  • Hold a recognised first aid qualification
  • Hold a customer care or welcome host cert
  • Hold a recognised academic qualification associated with the leisure industry
  • Hold a recognised academic qualification in IT
  • Previous experience in the leisure industry
  • Previous experience in reception duties
