Hays Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and high-achieving school in Darlington to recruit a School Administration Assistant to join their busy office team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong administrative or receptionist experience who is looking to move into a school environment.

The Role
As a School Administration Assistant, you will be a vital part of the front-office team, responsible for providing professional, friendly, and efficient administrative support.

Typical duties include:
  • Managing the school reception and being the first point of contact for visitors, parents, students, and staff
  • Handling incoming calls, emails, and general enquiries
  • Maintaining accurate records and updating school systems
  • Supporting attendance processes, data entry, filing, and document preparation
  • Assisting with general administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the school office
What We’re Looking For
While previous school-based experience is beneficial, we also welcome applicants with transferable skills from standalone administrative or receptionist positions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • Strong organisational and communication abilities
  • Proficiency with IT systems, including Microsoft Office
  • The ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment
  • A professional, calm, and friendly manner
A DBS on the Update Service is highly advantageous, although not essential—Hays can support candidates through the process if required.

  • Term time only + 3 additional weeks
  • Fixed-term 1-year contract
