Reception Teacher role in Walsall, Starting in September.

Hays Education are working in partnership with Infant School in Walsall to recruit a passionate and experienced Reception Teacher to cover maternity leave from September 2025 to June 2026.

Located in Walsall, this Infant School is a well-regarded community school catering to children aged 3 to 7 years. The school prides itself on providing a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment where “little people come to shine.” With a strong focus on early childhood development, the school offers a range of enriching activities, including Breakfast Club and Afterschool Club. Rated "Good" by Ofsted, the school is committed to fostering a love of learning and supporting every child to reach their full potential.

You will be joining a warm and welcoming Early Years team, taking full responsibility for a Reception class. The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver high-quality phonics sessions using Read Write Inc. (RWI)
  • Plan and prepare engaging lessons in line with the EYFS curriculum
  • Carry out assessments and write detailed pupil progress reports
  • Attend and contribute to Parents’ Evenings
  • Work closely with the Teaching Assistant to deliver targeted reading interventions
  • Differentiate learning for a small group of lower-ability children to ensure inclusive progress

What you'll need to succeed

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has previous experience teaching in a Reception class
  • Is confident in delivering phonics using RWI
  • Is passionate about working with Reception-aged children
  • Has strong planning, assessment, and communication skills
  • Can work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to support pupil development
