Quantity Surveyor - Permanent - Derby - Established Contractor - Highways - Strong Project Pipeline - Civils

Your new company

You will be joining an established and high-profile contractor based in Derby operating within the highways industry. This multi-accredited organisation has a strong pipeline of work within the highways industry, including both major framework and local authority works, and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. Due to continued success, they are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Derby office with the option for hybrid and flexible working.

Your new role

As Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing, maintaining and processing financial and project transactions
  • Analysing project costs and preparing monthly cost reports and commentary for any variance
  • Conducting site visits to carry out inspections
  • Liaising with all levels of the construction and professional team, including clients
  • Valuing completed work and applying for payments
  • Using systems and processes, allowing effective measurement of commercial performance
  • Assisting in providing accurate, real-time, monthly reports (CVRs) and outcome forecasts
  • Attending meetings on-site or elsewhere with the site teams, clients, suppliers and other parties as required.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful, you must have:
  • Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent
  • Experience quantity surveying within the civil engineering industry, ideally within the highways and/or local authority sectors
  • Sound working knowledge of NEC form of contract
  • Strong organisational, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Full UK driving licence.
