A Quality Lead role based in Doncaster, paying up to £50,000

Your new role

As Area Technical Manager, you will take ownership of all technical activities within a key section of the Scunthorpe Rod Mill. Working alongside Manufacturing Managers and Lead Engineers, you will play a pivotal role in optimising hot steel rolling processes and supporting major development initiatives.
Your remit will include:
  • Leading product and process trials to support technical innovation
  • Using statistical and operational data to identify trends and resolve production issues
  • Developing and embedding corrective actions that drive customer satisfaction
  • Championing quality improvement under IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 frameworks
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Commercial and Supply Chain functions
This is a role where your technical expertise will shape outcomes in a high-performance manufacturing environment.

What you'll need to succeed

You’ll be a results-focused technical expert, confident in your ability to drive change through insight and collaboration. Ideally, you’ll hold a degree in Materials Science, Engineering or a relevant scientific discipline, although equivalent experience will also be considered.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
  • Proven success in process or product development
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Comfortable working with operational and quality data to support decision-making
  • A proactive and solutions-driven approach
  • Awareness of core quality tools (PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC) and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience with metallurgical testing and industry standards
