Your new company

A highly successful and reputable manufacturing business in Nelson, Lancashire is seeking an ambitious Production Manager to join their team and be a part of their ongoing success story. This opportunity would suit an experienced Production Team Leader / Supervisor with strong management & leadership skills, who is ready to take a step up in their career to an exciting new Production Manager role.


Your new role

The Production Manager will oversee production activities, manage equipment, and ensure timely deliveries while leading the production team to meet the company's next-day delivery service. Working closely with a Production Supervisor, you will provide strong leadership to a team of production operatives and machine operators to ensure the smooth running of the production function, as well as implementing new ideas how the production department should be run to continually improve it. As part of this, you will:

  • Develop and maintain production schedules to ensure timely deliveries.

  • Manage equipment maintenance and repairs to minimise downtime.

  • Enforce quality standards to meet customer specifications and adhere to ISO standards.

  • Continuously improve production processes for efficiency and cost savings by applying lean and Kaizen principles.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.

  • Lead and motivate the production team for maximum productivity.

  • Generate and submit performance reports to the Operations Director.

  • Manage materials and inventory to ensure adequate stock levels.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong people management and leadership experience gained within a production environment

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team

  • Able to have difficult conversations and solve issues on the shop floor

  • Production planning / scheduling experience

  • Experience of using SAP or similar ERP systems

  • Ideally, you will have experience of working to ISO quality standards

  • Willingness to travel to meet with customers, where required
