Quality Engineer – Major Projects (HS2) - Utility Diversions

The Opportunity

I am supporting the delivery of critical multi‑utility diversion works across an 80km stretch of the HS2 project. This role sits at the heart of a major integrated delivery partnership and requires candidates with proven experience of working on large‑scale infrastructure programmes—ideally those delivered in collaboration with EKFB or similar tier‑one joint ventures.

As Quality Engineer, you will be the key point of contact for quality on site, driving compliance, maintaining robust records, and ensuring all works meet strict client and regulatory standards across major utilities, civils and enabling works zones including GTS, T2G and Calvert. You will work closely with project managers, delivery teams and quality leads, supporting quality champions and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across multiple active work sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the timely submission and quality of ITPs and ITCs, ensuring full compliance during installation phases.
  • Ensure all materials used on site are fully approved prior to installation.
  • Use digital quality and completions systems (including Novade) to manage documentation and records.
  • Deliver quality awareness sessions and support the development of engineers and site‑based quality champions.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities, helping refine processes and standards within the Business Management System.
  • Support the Quality Assurance Manager and Handover team in ensuring best practice and seamless project delivery.
  • Champion high standards of quality across multidisciplinary teams working on critical HS2 infrastructure.
Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience in a quality assurance or compliance engineering role, ideally within major infrastructure or utilities.
  • Strong understanding of UK civil engineering regulations and quality frameworks in large‑scale projects.
  • Previous involvement in major transportation or regulated projects—experience on HS2 or with EKFB‑aligned processes is highly desirable.
  • Ability to investigate non‑conformances, identify root causes, and communicate lessons learned effectively.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Understanding of integrated management systems and experience supporting process development and improvement.
Behaviours

  • Builds strong relationships across project teams and stakeholders to drive shared solutions.
  • Acts safely, ethically and responsibly, supporting high standards across environment and community impact.
  • Methodical and disciplined, ensuring accurate delivery and consistent compliance across evolving site activities.
