This is an excellent opportunity for teachers with a passion for supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviour, and SEND.
About the School
This inclusive and supportive alternative provision caters to primary-aged pupils who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. Many pupils have SEMH, ADHD, autism, or other additional needs. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment where pupils are supported to re-engage with learning and develop positive relationships.
The school follows a trauma-informed, child-centred approach and is guided by a strong ethos of Support, Trust, Achieve, Respect (STAR).
Primary Teacher Responsibilities
- Teach a small class of primary pupils with SEMH and additional needs
- Deliver a flexible, creative curriculum tailored to individual EHCPs
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff
- Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families
✅ Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching in primary education, ideally in a PRU, SEMH school, or SEND setting
- Confident in managing behaviour and using de-escalation strategies
- Patient, empathetic, and committed to inclusive education
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
