6-month contract for an Architectural Project Manager with the potential to convert into permanent

An opportunity has arisen for an Architectural Projects Manager to join a busy capital projects team, leading the architectural design and delivery of a varied portfolio of capital schemes. This role will suit a design-led professional who enjoys operating as the client lead, managing multidisciplinary consultants and ensuring high-quality, compliant design outcomes.
You will take projects from early feasibility through to delivery, working across all RIBA stages, with a strong focus on design quality, statutory compliance, sustainability and value for money.

Your new role

  • Lead the architectural design and project management of allocated capital projects from inception through to completion
  • Act as client lead for early RIBA stages (0–4), including feasibility, options appraisals, design development and planning
  • Manage and coordinate external design consultants to deliver integrated, compliant design solutions
  • Prepare and review project briefs, specifications, drawings and technical information
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including Building Safety Act 2022, CDM 2015 and Building Regulations
  • Monitor design-stage budgets, risks and change control
  • Administer JCT/NEC contracts through design and construction stages
  • Embed sustainability, accessibility and whole-life value principles into design solutions
  • Provide professional advice to senior stakeholders and elected members as required

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree-level qualification in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction/Project Management or a related discipline
  • Professional membership (e.g. RIBA, ARB, CIAT, CIOB, RICS)
  • Proven experience leading architectural design stages and managing external consultants
  • Strong knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work and statutory design frameworks
  • Experience delivering capital projects through planning and building regulations
  • Working knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience working within complex, client-side or public-sector environments is highly advantageous

What you'll get in return

  • A 6‑month initial contract with potential to convert to a permanent role
  • Competitive daily rate of £350 (in scope of IR35)
  • The opportunity to work on meaningful, design-led capital projects
  • Exposure to senior stakeholders and strategic programmes
  • Hybrid working arrangements (subject to project requirements)
