Project Manager, Stansted Airport, initially 6 months – Airfield ground lighting experience


A main contractor is currently looking for a Project Manager with airfield ground lighting experience for their project at Stansted Airport.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning & Delivery:
    Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for aviation infrastructure or operational projects. Lead the full project lifecycle from initiation to handover.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    Coordinate with airport authorities, airlines, contractors, engineering teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth communication and alignment of objectives.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    Ensure all works comply with aviation safety standards, CAP 168/CAA requirements, airport operational procedures, and project-specific quality standards.
  • Risk & Change Management:
    Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and manage change control processes to keep projects on track.
  • Operational Integration:
    Plan and schedule works to minimise impact on live airfield or terminal operations, ensuring safe access, permits, and operational approvals.
  • Financial Oversight:
    Track budgets, approve expenditures, and manage procurement to ensure projects are delivered within approved financial constraints.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
    Produce progress reports, technical documentation, commissioning records, and close-out packages for internal and external stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
Strong experience in airport infrastructure, airfield lighting (AGL), engineering, construction, or operational projects.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Understanding of regulatory frameworks within aviation.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced, safety-critical environments.
Competence in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2).
