Are you ready to lead the transformation of fleet and staff travel services?
We’re seeking an experienced and dynamic interim Project Manager to spearhead the mobilisation of our new Vehicle Management Service (VMS). This role will play a pivotal role in shaping and embedding a centralised fleet and business travel function that supports my clients’ operational needs and long-term decarbonisation goals.
This role is paying between £500 and £600 per day, and the successful candidate would be office-based 2 days per week.
The key responsibilities of this role are:
- Lead the formation and mobilisation of the VMS, delivering key workstreams across staff, property, IT, policy, communications, infrastructure, fleet replacement, grey fleet, and innovation.
- Provide strategic leadership to the VMS team.
- Develop and implement core fleet policies and operational procedures.
- Manage budgets and business planning for the service.
- Engage with stakeholders across the organisation and externally to ensure VMS meets operational needs and delivers value.
- Represent BCC at regional and national fleet events, promoting innovation and best practice.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has direct experience of launching a fleet management service within a local authority.
- Brings strong project and programme management skills, with a track record of leading change and engaging stakeholders.
- Understands fleet operations, including compliance, sustainability, and lifecycle cost management.
- Can lead behavioural change and promote service adoption across a complex organisation.
- Is passionate about innovation and decarbonisation in fleet services.
