Duration: 12 months
Location: Hybrid (1 day per week) Cambridge/ Luton/ Macclesfield
Outside IR35


Introduction to role
As Procurement Manager Professional Services – Consultancy within our Global Professional Sevices Procurement team, you’ll lead strategy and execution for a high-profile category with an annual spend of approximately $130M. You’ll have end-to-end accountability for defining and deploying global strategies across multiple Consultancy subcategories—including Strategic Consulting, Program Implementation, Advisory Consulting, Scientific Consulting, and SHE Consulting—impacting every Business Unit and geography. This role offers extensive exposure to senior leaders (SET and PLT), frequent engagement with enterprise stakeholders, and close collaboration with colleagues in Procurement across all regions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Define and deliver a comprehensive, fully integrated global category strategy for Consultancy, ensuring alignment to AstraZeneca’s overarching business needs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain robust relationships with internal customers and suppliers (SET/SET-1/SVP level), driving strategies that support current and future priorities across the organisation.
  • Implementation & Delivery: Lead the execution of category plans in partnership with Regional Procurement teams, maximising business value and meeting both global and local requirements.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Manage key consultancy partnerships and oversee complex, high-value, and high-risk negotiations with market-leading global firms, implementing best-in-class SRM practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Global Source to Contract Excellence (GSCE) team in Warsaw, shaping procurement approaches that deliver business objectives.
  • Analytical Expertise:
    Generate actionable insights that inform category strategy, drive cost optimization, and unlock new value for AstraZeneca


Essential Skills & Experience
  • Influence & Engagement: Proven track record influencing senior stakeholders at c suite level in demanding global settings
  • Experience in procuring Consultancy services
  • Contract Negotiation: Demonstrated success negotiating high-value, high-risk agreements with market-leading global suppliers
  • Commercial Expertise: Skilled in establishing strong partner-based relationships, driving innovation, implementing robust performance management processes, and balancing risk in ambiguous scenarios
  • Project Leadership: Experience leading large, complex global initiatives. Exceptional project and change management, with the confidence to lead people through transformation
  • Analytical & Communication Skills: Strong analytical mindset; outstanding communication and influencing capabilities
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in high-risk and ambiguous environments
  • Education: Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience


Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Consultancy Sector Insight: Experience partnering with top-tier global consultancy firms
  • Broader cross-category experience
    within Professional Services, IT Services and/or HR Services that align or could impact future consultancy services
