Senior Procurement Specialist | £62,500 per annum plus package | Sheffield (hybrid) | Full-Time, Permanent

Your new company
You will join an organisation that plays a central role in delivering public value through effective commercial practice. The procurement team supports complex, high‑profile projects that require strong commercial judgement, rigorous compliance and a confident approach to senior stakeholder engagement. You will work with colleagues across the business and a diverse supplier network to support strategic decision-making and drive measurable outcomes.

Your new role
You will act as a subject-matter expert, leading complex above‑threshold public procurement activity from end to end. You will design commercially robust procurement strategies, guide pre‑market engagement, develop tender documentation, and build detailed evaluation models. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading complex tender procurement processes.
  • Providing clear commercial and procurement advice to influence specifications and commercial models.
  • Managing evaluation and moderation processes, including training evaluators.
  • Drafting compliant standstill letters, award notices and ratification reports.
  • Advising on contract design, formation and supplier onboarding.
  • Identifying opportunities for efficiencies through analysis of spend and pipeline data.
  • Leading procurement workstreams, presenting commercial insights to senior leadership, and contributing to governance forums.
  • Supporting junior colleagues and promoting good commercial practice across the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed
You will bring significant experience in complex public procurement and the confidence to work autonomously. Essential requirements:
  • Extensive experience designing and delivering large, multi‑vendor public procurement processes.
  • Strong knowledge of public procurement legislation, commercial contracts and supplier management.
  • Proven background in developing strategic procurement approaches.
  • Experience in professional services procurement.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
  • A track record of influencing senior stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to offer clear, commercially focused advice.
  • Experience supporting junior team members.
    Desirable experience:
  • Procurement activity linked to social value, sustainability or net‑zero objectives.
  • Providing commercial commentary to support management information.
  • MCIPS or an equivalent supply‑chain qualification would be desirable but not essential.

What you'll get in return
You will join a high‑performing procurement function with the autonomy to shape strategic commercial decisions. You will work with senior leaders on complex programmes, contribute to organisational reform, and develop your expertise within a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

A competitive salary of up to £62,500 per annum is on offer with an excellent package on offer including an achievable bonus, excellent pension, 38 days holiday and hybrid/flexible working (2 days in the office / 3 days working from home).
