Procurement Manager, Category Manager

Your New Role
As Procurement Manager (Category Manager), you will lead procurement activity across a range of spend categories, acting as a trusted business partner to assigned directorates. You will:
  • Develop and deliver category strategies aligned to business priorities.
  • Manage end‑to‑end procurement including market analysis, tendering, evaluation, negotiation and contract award.
  • Ensure compliance with Procurement Policy, PCR 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Support stakeholders with specification development, commercial guidance and contract management.
  • Build strong supplier relationships and drive performance, value and continuous improvement.
  • Analyse spend data to identify opportunities, manage forward plans and maintain accurate contract information.
  • Provide training, advice and mentoring to colleagues where required.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • CIPS qualified, working towards CIPS, or equivalent procurement experience.
  • Strong commercial awareness and proven experience managing end‑to‑end procurements.
  • Knowledge of PCR 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong Excel capability and confidence working with complex data.
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach and the ability to influence and drive improvement.
