Hays are partnered with a leading UK multidisciplinary consultancy who are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer / Principal Structural Engineer to join an award-winning Civil & Structural North team of 40. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in structural engineering and be chartered or near chartered. This role involves working on a variety of projects up to £100m including new build schools, retirement villages, car manufacturing plants, residential tower blocks and much more.
Your new role
The role involves producing structural engineering work packages for medium to large development projects, from initial concept through to completion, and preparing calculation packages for Building Control submission. You will conduct survey inspections and provide detailed written reports with clear findings and recommendations.
The position requires close collaboration with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects and representing the company in meetings with clients, contractors, and other parties. You will be responsible for delivering work on time and within agreed fees, as well as preparing client proposals and establishing design philosophies. Additionally, you will manage team members both technically and in terms of workflow, assist in organising the wider team’s tasks alongside project billing, and contribute to the monthly financials of the team.

What you'll need to succeed
- A degree in Civil Engineering, or similar qualification
- Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers (or working towards it)
- Proven experience of working in a relevant UK design role for a minimum of 6 years
- A good understanding of regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in use of design software such as AutoCAD, Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer, SCIA etc.
