Ellesmere Port. Two-form entry mainstream primary. Full-time temporary contract starting September.

Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a mainstream two-form entry primary school in Ellesmere Port as they are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable teaching assistant to support a reception class due to pupil intake and additional funding. This is a long-term position that will last the academic year.

Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining an extremely welcoming and supportive team of like-minded professionals. You will work alongside the reception class teacher to offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment for your new pupils by taking a pupil-centred approach to learning and differentiating learning materials. You will offer phonics sessions and assessments on a 1:1 and small group basis and implement a myriad of positive behaviour strategies including now & next, reward charts, and positive reinforcement. A number of pupils within the class have SEN and are showing signs of ALN, so you will be required to closely monitor their behaviours and attainment outcomes, offering additional support as required and liaising with the class teacher on their progress.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, be willing to undergo/gain DBS screening if you do not have an up-to-date certificate, and have a minimum of 40 days referenceable teaching assistant experience within the last 2 years. Other desirables include:
  • Experience delivering phonics sessions and assessments
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • Experience supporting SEN is advantageous but not essential
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential

What you'll get in return
If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant as well as a wide range of benefits which include:
  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Company pension scheme
  • Long-term contract
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
