Your new school

Hays are recruiting for a job as a Welsh-Speaking Teaching Assistant / Cynorthwyydd Addysgu Cymraeg for a well-regarded and highly respected Welsh-Medium Primary School in Cardiff. The school possesses a hardworking, friendly, and caring teaching team, eager to support students and colleagues alike to the best of their abilities. The school offers a fantastic level of Welsh language education for local children aged 3-11. Within this role you shall be supporting small groups of Key Stage 2 pupils through the medium of Welsh, encouraging, and supporting with the engagement of their schoolwork. The school creates and maintains a supportive, inclusive, and happy learning environment.

Your new role.

The role is confirmed long-term for a September start, working 5 days a week. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:
  • Working with small groups of Key Stage 2 Pupils through the medium of Welsh.
  • Offering ad-hoc 1:1 support when required.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe and enjoyable learning environment for the pupils.
  • Working as part of a close-knit and efficient team with other members of the teaching staff.
  • Assisting teachers as they implement their creative lesson plans.
  • Demonstrating a high level of patience and care when dealing with potentially challenging and disruptive behaviour.
What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience over the course of the last 2 – 3 years and must be able to speak Welsh. Some of the key attributes needed for this role include enthusiasm, dedication, and a hardworking nature. Additional skills and attributes include empathy, calmness, problem-solving skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships.
