We are seeking a skilled Year 5 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Northumberland on a full‑time, long‑term temporary basis.
As a Year 5 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and progress. You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging lessons, provide targeted support to individual pupils and small groups, and help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning within a Year 5 classroom
- Work with pupils on a one‑to‑one and small‑group basis
- Assist with lesson preparation, classroom organisation and resource management
- Help monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback
- Foster a safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and wider school teams
Requirements
- Experience working in a primary school setting (KS2 experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of Year 5 curriculum expectations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (essential)
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning
