Primary schools in Wigan are seeking PPA teachers to start on a short-term basis, starting immediately.
Your new company
Hays has been approached by a number of schools in the Wigan area that are seeking to secure PPA Cover Teachers. All of these schools are a mixture of Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ and ‘Good’ and are well known throughout the community for how the teachers will push their pupils to reach their potential and exceed. There are various roles on offer here that include part and full-time and range across the KS1 and KS2 classes. This could be a perfect role for someone looking to gain more experience teaching within a primary school and finding a school that suits them or for someone who is looking to work part-time to give a better work/life balance.
Your new role
In the role of a PPA Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for covering lessons either left absent by the teacher or when the teacher takes time away to plan and prepare future lessons. You will be expected to deliver the lessons left by the class teacher and ensure pupils are still fully engaged in the work and reaching their potential. It is key to have good communication roles and be able to build relationships quickly with both staff and pupils. This is a great role for an NQT/ECT to gain experience in various classrooms or for someone looking to take a step back from full teaching responsibilities.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, hold qualified teacher status (QTS) gained in the UK. You should be enthusiastic, approachable and be able to hit the ground running. Good knowledge of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum is preferred however as previously stated, the school will also consider NQT/ECT.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will be paid a highly competitive daily rate and will be working in this successful school where you will become an integral part of a welcoming team of TA's. You will therefore have the opportunity to further develop your own teaching assistant skills and experience.
