PE Teacher Job Available at Autism Specialist School in Disley

Hays are currently partnering with a specialist independent school supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs, based in Disley, Cheshire East. They provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Their approach focusses on personalised learning, small class sizes, and building strong, positive relationships to help every pupil reach their full potential. This school are looking for an inspiring and dedicated PE Teacher to join their team. You will teach a class of no more than 6 pupils, supported by a Teaching Assistant. All pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and varying abilities, so lessons will need to be adapted to meet individual needs. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified teacher who is passionate about physical education and keen to try new ideas while maintaining high standards.

Location: Disley, Cheshire East
Start Date: 5th January
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30 (non-negotiable)
Contract: Full-time
Rate: Up to £230/day DOE

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons tailored to pupils with autism and varying abilities.
  • Use creative approaches to promote physical development, teamwork, and confidence.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual EHCP requirements and ensure inclusion.
  • Maintain a safe and positive learning environment in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback to support development.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other staff to support pupil wellbeing.
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times.

What We’re Looking For
  • A well-qualified, inspiring teacher with outstanding subject knowledge in PE.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies for pupils with autism and additional needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and a positive, patient approach.
  • A successful track record of teaching PE (or strong potential for NQTs).
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment to maintaining high standards.
